I am in Indonesia, should I need an import permit to buy from Thailand ? If I import without a permit and my plants are stuck at the customs will I get a refund from Paypal for item non received ?
- EMS and customs : you should not import by the express postal EMS but by Small Parcel Air up to 2000 gr : EMS are more likely to be checked by customs than Small Parcel Air. Small Parcel Air is also cheaper
and generally does not take much longer.
An other option is the use of envelopes for cuts. About 100 % of envelopes arrive safely.
- In 2015 Asean countries would not require permits for imports from member countries. Some countries of the Asean seem to already allow live plants imports from Thailand without an import permit or a declaration done in advance. Indonesia is seemingly not one of these countries. We advise our importers to look for information on the website of their customs instead of taking the risk of importing.
- Paypal will not refund live plants stuck at customs. However if the cause is an interception because of disease or insect - as for live Hoya plants so far ( Dec. 2012 ) such event has never happened to us - the Phytosanitary office of the import country issues a note to the importer and informs their Thai counterpart. On submission of this note by the importer we will refund the plants and the postal fee immediatey via Paypal.

Is the express option effective in all countries ?
Is the express option for 25 thb useful ? it applies to small parcels air and envelopes : these items with the express stickers on them should be delivered faster after arrival at the destination post. Some countries like the USA don't have it for receiving. In countries were it is meant to be applied many people say they perceive no difference in the duration of the delivery. Aleyagarden takes by default the options : registered letter 65 thb and express 25 thb in 2012.

Will you reduce prices if I buy at the nursery ?
Unfortunately we do not reduce prices for local residents or non residents, Thai or non Thai, who come to buy at the site : the prices remain those from our shop or from our wholesale list.

Can you ship my plants a few hours after you received my order ?
Question : Can you ship my plants a few hours after you received my order with the payment ?
Answer : Yes absolutely; we ship plants on Thursday before 15: 00 - this way they are in the plane during the week end and your post receives them in your country as early as Monday - ; if we got all your details ( address, and for EMS tel # ) and payment and don't need a phytosanitary certificate we just need to receive your order on Thursday morning at last.
But if you need a phytosanitary certificate, as the documents must be prepared in advance for submission to the phytosanitary you must send us before Tuesday morning ( ie by Monday night for you if you are in the west ) your delivery details and the number at most of Hoya plants; for instance you can e mail us on Monday night 25 Hoya and in the end order 22, this won't be a problem regarding customs' documents; also the names of the plant species, how many cuts, how many rooted, all this is not necessary at this stage : we don't need to know them, we just need to know how many Hoya at most you will order; then you can send us your definite order with the names of species, packing instructions and your payment not later than Thursday morning ( by Wednesday night in the west ). We will ship this same day before 15 : 00, with the phyto. documents that were prepared at last on Tuesday.

Orders on aleyagarden.com site. Calculate your transport cost : Envelope, Small Parcel Air or EMS
1- Go to http://www.thailandpost.co.th/index.php?page=rate_result&country_code=AU&weight=3000&language=en
If you are not on the ENGLISH page click on the small round British flag on the upper left :
2- Enter the weight ( Hoya : 45 gr per cut, 105 gr per rooted plant or small rooted, Philodendron 220 gr ) and see the result in thb currency; You will select INTERNATIONAL SMALL PARCEL AIR ( from 1 to 3 weeks : 2 weeks on average ) the maximum weight is 2000 grams. Or EMS World Package ( 1 week on average ) . The other EMS types are not suitable for plants.
The picture above shows a 1006 thb fee for sending 2000 grams to Germany
3- In the column " Addon Services " shown above ( the last column to the right ) click on the + sign ( it is to the right of the Fee ) and add as shown below the registration cost for Int'l Small Packet Air. If instead of Int'l Small Packet Air you want EMS you don't need to add a registration cost : you don't need to click on the + shown above.
The picture above shows a 65 thb fee for the registration of an Int'l Small Packet Air ( small parcel air )
4- to the fees add 510 thb for the phytosanitary certificate. So for instance sending 2000 gr to Germany by small parcel air would cost 1006 + 65 + 510 = 1581 thb
In order to evaluate this amount in an other currency such as $US, google " 1 $ to thb " as on the picture below :
The picture above shows the conversion of $US to thb ( Thai Baht ).
5- if sending by ENVELOPE registered, without a phyto. certificate 2 to 3 non rooted Hoya cuts, the transport cost is the thb conversion of 7 $US.
6- We accept paypal payments only for small amounts transferred. These must be non refundable personal payments in thb net of all charges ( we don't accept payments for goods and services, these payments are refundable ) : all fees including the hidden conversion fee to thb are on the sender. Please see the pictures below :
The pictures above show a Paypal personal payment with all fees paid by the sender. These fees include the hidden cost of currency conversion at Paypal's rate..
